After studying economics with a minor in journalism and communication science at the Georg-August University in Göttingen, Klaus Fischer worked as an assistant on oligopolistic market processes and received his doctorate (Dr. rer. pol.).
He then gained his first professional experience in international reinsurance in Munich. He then worked as assistant to the board of directors for sales and marketing of a large insurance group, where his responsibilities included internal consulting projects and a corporate merger.
Klaus Fischer has been working in management consulting since the mid-1990s. After his first years at SCG St. Gallen Consulting Group, he moved to the management of A.T. Kearney. Since 1999 he has been self-employed in Hanover with the management consultancy Convantage GmbH. Convantage supports the exploitation of entrepreneurial success potentials in the areas of strategy, marketing, sales and personnel.
The focus here is on realignment, the strengthening of success factors and the management of operational change processes. Convantage supports the management in the development of marketing concepts and in the development and control of sales channels. In addition to coaching executives, Klaus Fischer advises on the analysis and adaptation of corporate culture.
Already during his consulting activities he was entrusted with teaching assignments at renowned universities (HSBA Hamburg School of Business Administration; FHTW Fachhochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft Berlin). Since 2009 he has held the professorship for International Management at the private University of Applied Sciences for Business (FHDW) in Hanover. There he teaches and conducts research in topics such as international management (intercultural management, internationalization strategies), marketing (product management, service management, pricing policy) as well as change management and decision theory. In the course of his consulting and teaching activities, he has published three books and numerous specialist articles. Klaus Fischer is a sought-after speaker and congress leader and has moderated many workshops. He is a member of the Royal Economic Society, London and the Econometric Society, London.
